Grant Will Support Discovery Orchestra’s Local Music Education Programs

PLUCKEMIN, New Jersey – The Discovery Orchestra (“the Orchestra” ) recently received a $3,000 grant from the Investors Foundation. The grant will help further the Orchestra’s mission of teaching music listening skills by providing interactive and accessible programs for audiences in North Central New Jersey.

The Orchestra applied for the grant from the Investors Foundation, which supports nonprofit organizations that enrich the diverse communities served by Investors Bank.

“At [the Orchestra] we have, for three decades, helped people of all backgrounds to really connect with classical music as listeners,” said Virginia Johnston, Executive Director of the Orchestra. “We are indeed fortunate to have community partners like the Investors Foundation who believe in and support our mission and work.”

The Investors Foundation grant will help underwrite the Orchestra’s 2017-2018 local programs for the public, which include a concert series at Drew University, intimate afternoon and evening recitals in area homes and a private country club, music listening classes, and outreach programs for underserved community groups.
