A Nocturne Not by Chopin

Nocturne-Not-by-Chopin

Claude Debussy wrote three nocturnes for symphony orchestra, bearing absolutely no resemblance to the eighteen by Chopin for solo piano. In this episode George Marriner Maull takes a look inside Festivals, the second of Debussy’s work: Three Nocturnes. Debussy’s liberated attitude toward tonality and distinct orchestrations will be explored.
